After a short 35 minute drive, we will arrive to a beautiful area dedicated to reforestation, owned and operated by Mendez Family, located in La Tigra of San Carlos near from the mountainous area around the Children´s Eternal Rainforest. Here we will take a short nature walk where we will be able to discover the rainforest typical to the region and some of the unique animals found in this area such as the anteater, tinamus bird, coatimundi, morpho butterflies, several tropical bird species and much more. After the trail walk, we will return to the Family Farm. Once we arrive, we will learn about the daily lifestyle of a typical Costa Rican farm family, their customs, traditions, and daily chores to maintain their farm. Next, we will tour the property through the plantations of products like black pepper, vanilla, yucca, coffee, banana, corn, and many other traditional crops. Finally, we will enjoy a delicious lunch of fresh products from the farm prepared on a wood burning stove for the most authentic Costa Rican flavor, before returning to La Fortuna in the late afternoon.
